How to play the Krillion trivia game
Learn the rules, score deeper and choose your next dive. This Krillion handbook covers the seven-round trivia game from your first answer to your final result.
Your first Krillion round
Read the complete prompt during the three-second preview. Its date, league or membership limits define which answers qualify. Then you have twenty seconds to enter a name.
- Choose one answer. This is an open-answer trivia game. Each prompt accepts several names, but your first recognized answer ends the round.
- Submit or retry. Press Enter or use the submit control. An unrecognized attempt costs no points; try another while time remains.
- Continue when ready. A skip or timeout scores zero. Press Next after the result. You can pause between rounds, never during the active timer.
Krillion has no speed bonus. Accepted answers cannot be replaced, and rapid repeated submissions can trigger a short rate limit.
Krillion scoring: six tiers, deeper dives
Each accepted answer has a fixed editorial familiarity tier. Less familiar answers earn more points. These estimates are not live player statistics: another player’s answer never changes your score.
| Tier | Points | Depth gained |
|---|---|---|
| Familiar waters | 10 | 100 m |
| A little deeper | 15 | 150 m |
| Off the reef | 30 | 300 m |
| Hidden current | 60 | 600 m |
| Deep discovery | 85 | 850 m |
| A rare find | 100 | 1,000 m |
The ocean shows your score; it is not a real-world diving simulation.
Krillion daily challenge or free practice?
The daily challenge gives everyone the same seven questions in the same order. Each anonymous browser can finish once per UTC date. A new Krillion daily set arrives at 00:00 UTC.
Practice uses the same trivia game rules with mixed or themed questions. There is no daily practice quota; a fairness limit allows 20 new game starts per hour per browser across all modes.
Each practice pool has a separate history. Starting reserves seven questions, even if you leave midway. A theme question may also appear in mixed practice. The finite pools repeat after exhaustion; “unlimited” does not mean unlimited unique questions.
Find a stronger Krillion answer
Keep a reliable fallback, then explore a less familiar candidate. Narrow your memory to a region, decade or league you know. Before submitting, check the answer type, date range and name. A valid familiar answer beats an invalid obscure one.
Krillion reveals tiers only after acceptance. For practice, recall two possible answers during a preview and compare your confidence. Submit one before the deadline; research the uncertain connection afterwards.

Learn from your Krillion result
Review total points, depth, round outcomes and your browser’s personal best. Pick one missed connection to revisit. Practice totals use different prompts, so a higher score alone does not prove improvement.
Share your Krillion summary to compare dives with friends. It contains scores, depth and symbols without question or answer spoilers. There is no live multiplayer or global leaderboard.
Krillion controls and saved progress
Play on phone, tablet or desktop. Tab moves between controls; Enter submits. Sound starts off, and reduced-motion preferences are respected. These settings do not affect scoring.
The server keeps time through refreshes, tab changes and network interruptions. Reconnect to restore saved state. Tabs sharing a browser identity share a dive.
Krillion progress uses an anonymous cookie. Keep the same browser: private browsing, clearing site data or changing devices can lose access to history and personal bests. Scores cannot be merged or recovered across devices.
